William Jennings Duckett
WILLIAM JENNINGS DUCKETT, 99, of El Campo, TX., died Tuesday, July 12, 1994. He was born in New York on Oct. 28, 1894, and was cared for by the New York Foundling Home until June, 1904, when he rode the Orphan Train to Fayette County, TX, where he was placed in a foster home.
He was a retired cotton farmer, 75 plus year member of the Masonic Lodge #817 of East Bernard, a member of S.P.J.S.T. Lodge #30, and Trinity Lutheran Church.
He was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Anna Marie Hruska, his oldest son, J.J. Duckett, and one great-grandchild.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Wyotek Duckett: son, L.L. Duckett of Austin; daughters, Virginia Belt of Flatonia, Abie Brownshadel of Nederland; Willie Mae Tenison of Dallas; 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Services were held at 3 p.m. Friday, July 15, 1994, at Triska Funeral Home Chapel in El Campo, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery, with members of the Masonic Lodge serving as pallbearers and conducting the ritual. The Rev. John Willmann of Trinity Lutheran Church officiated.
Designated memorials were Trinity Lutheran Church, or the Masonic Lodge Children's Home and School in Ft. Worth, TX.
